American Emmy-nominated sports telecaster Holly Rowe, who earned her recognition as a sideline reporter for college football games on ESPN, is a proud mother of a grown-up son named McKylin Rowe.
Her son McKylin is an aspiring actor and writer who has shown his acting prowess in various TV shows and short films, including The Egos, Existential Mashed Potatoes, Brotherly Love, The Holidays, and Revealing Cards.

Having been diagnosed with severe but rare melanoma (stage 3) in 2015 on her chest, Rowe understood that she had to accept the condition as part of her job since her job requires her to spend most of the time outside.
She later went public about her condition and the subsequent surgery in 2016. In 2017, she also revealed to the Associated Press that her cancer had returned and she was up for treatment.
This just popped up and really made me cry.

And as someone who has been passionate about her job, she has been working between her treatments with only a little time to rest. She says:
I was in such a dark place, because I ended up with inoperable tumors in my lung, which is normally a deadly situation, and I was really lucky to get on immunotherapy. I knew that I was in trouble, and I was in a deadly situation. And I just thought, if I stop working and sit on my couch, that might kill me even faster. I just didn't feel like I was the type of person that could put my life on hold, because then I'm not really living. So, I set little goals for myself: “Okay, after this surgery I’ll be back in time for the big 12 basketball tournament, so I get to cover Kansas basketball and Texas basketball. I’ll be back for the draft so I can be there when Brianna Stewart goes number one, because I've covered her since she was 18 years old.” I think it helped get me through my cancer, because I wasn't sitting around feeling sorry for myself and only obsessing about that. I feel like living with a little bit of purpose and joy helped me.
The experience taught her the importance of sunscreen, which she now preaches to everyone.
