Joan Lin Feng-Jiao was born on the 30th of June 1953 in Taipei Province of Taiwan. She comes from a family of seven and is the 2nd of five children. Lin spent her formative years in Taipei and initially continued her education. However, she left school at the age of 12. This was due to her parents’ inability to meet the necessary financial obligations. Joan Lin did not allow her to drop out of school to complain. She preferred to work hard to help her family in any way she could. She also began a career in the film industry.
Lin’s hard work paid off when she landed her first role in the 1972 film – The Hero of Chin Chow . Lin’s famous acting career spanned a decade (1972 – 1982) and she acted in more than 60 films. Most of the films are based on romance novels by the famous Taiwanese writer Chiung Yao. One of Lin’s most popular films is the 1979 film Small Town Tale . The film follows an ex-convict who embarks on a forbidden love affair with a mute woman. Joan Lin played the role of the silent heroine. Her excellent portrayal of the character earned her many awards and recognitions.

Joan Lin is married to the famous stuntman andactor – Jackie Chan. Chan is one of the most famous movie stars in the world. He broke into Hollywood in the ’90s and has since starred in blockbusters such as Rumble in the Bronx , Rush Hour , Shanghai Noon , The Spy Next Door and The Karate Kid . Joan Lin met her husband in 1982. At that time, she was already a movie star in Taiwan when he was still an aspiring actor. A few months later, Lin became pregnant and the couple decided to tie the knot. To that end, they moved to America and married in 1982.
